Rwanda
Information Society Authority has hosted Heads of Mission from European Union
Member States and the European Union Ambassador to Rwanda, Belen Calvo, for a
joint project visit to Hanga Hub Rubavu, an innovation centre supported under
the EU-funded Hanga Project.
The
visit brought together key stakeholders to assess the progress and impact of
the initiative, which is being implemented by RISA in partnership with the
Rwanda ICT Chamber. The delegation toured the facility, engaged with local
innovators, and observed how digital solutions and entrepreneurship are
contributing to community development and economic growth.

Hanga
Hub Rubavu is part of Rwanda’s broader strategy to promote innovation-driven
development, with a focus on empowering young entrepreneurs and fostering
digital skills. During the visit, participants highlighted the role of such
hubs in supporting the country’s digital transformation agenda and creating
opportunities for inclusive growth.
The
engagement also featured contributions from other EU-supported initiatives,
including the Aguka Project implemented by the United Nations Development
Programme and the Ubukerarugendo Imbere Project led by the Rwanda TVET Board.
These programmes showcased collaborative efforts to strengthen innovation
ecosystems and enhance skills development across sectors.

The
visit underscored the importance of international partnerships in advancing
Rwanda’s digital economy, with stakeholders reaffirming their commitment to
supporting initiatives that drive innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable
development.
