The Head of the Department of Information Technology and Decision Sciences at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Professor Peter Appiahene has presented a proposal to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, aimed at digitizing and improving the analysis of Ghana’s Parliamentary Hansards.

The proposed AI-driven system is designed to replace labor-intensive manual reviews, enabling efficient, long-term tracking of policy changes and supporting data-driven decision-making within Parliament. Professor Appiahene highlighted the potential of the framework to modernize legislative analysis and enhance institutional efficiency.

The Speaker welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and significant. He acknowledged that while related reforms are underway, funding remains a key challenge.

He also expressed interest in reviewing existing systems to explore how the proposed framework could complement current tools, emphasizing appreciation for UENR’s expertise and support.
