Autorité
de Protection des Données Personnelles has held discussions with UNICEF Benin
to strengthen collaboration on promoting personal data protection and enhancing
digital safety, particularly for children.
The
meeting took place during an audience granted by APDP President Luciano
Hounkponou to the UNICEF representative in Benin, where both parties reviewed
ongoing cooperation and explored new areas for partnership.

The
collaboration between the two institutions previously led to a joint awareness
campaign conducted in November 2025, targeting students at CEG Bohicon and
Lycée des Jeunes Filles d’Abomey. The initiative focused on raising awareness
about online violence and promoting responsible digital behaviour among young
users.
During
the engagement, UNICEF conveyed its appreciation for the APDP’s leadership in
advancing data protection initiatives and expressed interest in expanding joint
programmes to reach more communities.

The
APDP reaffirmed its commitment to deepening the partnership, emphasizing the
importance of sustained collaboration in building a secure digital environment
and strengthening the protection of personal data for children and other
digital users in Benin.
