A
delegation of 21 university rectors and vice rectors from Germany is in Ghana
this week to engage with local universities and institutions as part of efforts
to strengthen academic cooperation and partnerships.
The
visit, organized by the German Academic Exchange Service, began on March 23,
2026, with engagements in Accra and is expected to continue across other parts
of the country.

The
delegation is led by Kai Sicks, Secretary General of DAAD, and aims to promote
dialogue, exchange ideas, and explore new avenues for collaboration between
German and Ghanaian higher education institutions.
Upon
arrival, the delegation was received by Frederik Landshöft, who welcomed the
group and highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral academic and
research ties.

The
engagements are expected to focus on expanding partnerships in teaching,
research, and innovation, as well as fostering institutional linkages that
support capacity building and knowledge exchange between Ghana and Germany.
