The
Director General of the GSMA, Vivek Badrinath has underscored the growing role
of industrial artificial intelligence and advanced connectivity during his
participation at the China Development Forum.
Speaking
at the forum, Badrinath noted that China is already deploying artificial
intelligence at industrial scale across key sectors including manufacturing,
healthcare, education, and logistics, translating innovation into practical,
real-world impact.
He
emphasized that while the expansion of AI is inevitable, the focus must now
shift toward ensuring that its deployment is responsible, reliable, and capable
of delivering tangible value across industries.

Badrinath
highlighted the importance of robust digital infrastructure, pointing to the
need for strong 5G standalone networks to support the next phase of AI-driven
transformation. He also called for the development of sector-specific AI models
tailored to the unique requirements of different industries.
In
addition, he stressed the importance of sustained collaboration between
governments, industry players, and other stakeholders to create an enabling
environment for scalable and impactful AI adoption.
Badrinath
is expected to continue these discussions at the upcoming MWC Shanghai 2026,
scheduled to take place from June 24 to 26, where global industry leaders will
further explore the intersection of connectivity and emerging technologies.
